Clarity or Confusion?

Why is it that there are times of great clarity and others of muddled confusion?

A day of great clarity feels spot on. Direction, focus, and energy describe how one goes after the tasks to be done. But other days, a sluggish feeling can zap the clarity. It feels like walking through a swamp rather than enjoying the trail and the alpine air.

“It's a lack of clarity that creates chaos and frustration. Those emotions are poison to any living goal.” — Steve Maraboli

It can be helpful to reflect. Slow down. Turn off distractions. Carve out meaningful time to be with the story of your life. Sit with pen and journal to see exactly where you are at. Are you seeing things as happening to you or deciding what you will do? Is it time to take back your control? Imagine traveling on solid ground and ascending above the daily grind. What do you notice?

Make a Plan

We work, play, and live better with clarity. Think about your dreams. Is there a nudge to plan and make it happen? Picture what you really love. Focus on it. That is what is important. Make art to illustrate your vision. Talk about your steps with trusted loved ones. Be clear with yourself about your purpose and value. You are here to do the work you came to do. What inspiration does this provoke?

How distracted am I?

You name it, it can be a distraction. Choice, deciding, and planning are words of clarity. Shifting focus and limiting distractions can feel fantastic. Setting up blocks of time in the day for choices and decisions, gets you what you want. What would happen with less distraction and more decisiveness? Find your distractions. Ask: Is eating, watching, or doing this in line with what I want?

“You must first clearly see a thing in your mind before you can do it.” — Alex Morrison
